Fly Fishing Production and Talent Expertise
John Dietsch is perhaps best known in fly fishing circles for his supervision of all the fishing scenes on the OSCAR® winning film A River Runs Through It, where he also conceived and executed the famous final fishing scene doubling for actor Brad Pitt by swimming a rapid while playing a fish. Dietsch is also known for creating, producing, hosting and directing the Telly® Award Winning primetime TV series called Adventure Guides: Fishing Edition. Dietsch also wrote, directed, co-hosted and co-produced an interactive digital video project called ESPN Interactive Fly Fishing School and co-wrote the book Shadowcasting. He has also appeared in or consulted on more than a dozen fly fishing TV commercials for brands like Mastercard, Miller Beer, Mild Seven, and T Rowe Price. He actively consults on TV commercials and film projects as a fly fishing film consultant. Dietsch founded and ran Hook.tv, the world's first digital video community based on fly fishing and user-generated content. John was also recently hired to develop a feature length documentary film and sizzle reel about the life of legendary angler Joe Brooks, with initial funding from the Brooks family and featuring Lefty Kreh.
