While Castle Creek Productions has a focus on producing for long-form television, we also have a background in making films and commercials. John Dietsch was chosen to head the fly fishing department on the feature film A River Runs Through It , working closely with director Robert Redford to bring an unparalleled sense of realism to the fishing scenes. This invaluable experience has translated into John 's sideline career as a director for a variety of regional and national spots. John has also consulted on a number of commercials on outdoor sports for clients like Miller, Mild Seven, and Coca Cola . Castle Creek Productions also produced a short film, directed by Dietsch, about the California landmark Rancho Los Alamitos. We are currently considering feature film projects that will play on the strengths of Castle Creek Productions' core competencies .

The story of the Rancho is a parable for what happened, is happening, and may happen to all of Southern California . By tracing the history of Rancho Los Alamitos from the sacred “birthplace” of the American Tongvas through Spanish, Mexican, and American epochs, this film symbolizes the resilience and transformation that sets Southern California apart from other regions of the world. By combining archival footage with an original score and authentic historic voices from the property, An Island in Time is a prime example of Castle Creek's eclectic repertoire.
